Uncovering the Sidewalks!

I've been asked if dirt was really "rolled up" to reveal buried sidewalks. Answer: YES! Years of falling leaves, sticks and flowers decomposed on top of the sidewalks, eventually becoming soil. Complex root systems formed in this soil above the sidewalks, and upon edging the sidewalk (slicing through the soil/roots on both sides of the walk) the soil was able to be rolled back.
